Louisiana High School Standout Commits to LSU
(KMDL-FM) There are only two places that I am aware of that still use a fax machine. One of those places is your doctor's office. That should make you feel good that your family's health is dependent on technology that was outdated in the mid-90s. Don't believe me? Ask your doctor's office to share your records with another medical facility; they'll give you a fax number.
The other aspect of modern life that, for some reason, still relies on a fax machine is the multi-billion-dollar industry that is known as amateur college athletics. Which is far from amateur, and to be honest, they may have moved forward from the fax machine, or at least a little more forward than the medical industry.

Why Do Some People Still Use a Fax Machine?
The reason we bring up fax machines is that, for a long time, that's how recruits notified the college or university of their choice that they were committing to that university's athletic program. The fax was quick, it couldn't be forged, and it was considered a "binding" document. By the way, that and the fact that it's difficult to forge a fax are the reasons the medical community still uses the technology.
Yeah, you can go ahead and laugh at the "binding" part. In today's world of college athletics, apparently, nobody is bound to anything, but still, it's fun to pretend that a good high school prospect is planning on attending your university.
LSU got that kind of news from a highly regarded athletic prospect over the weekend when Peyton "Pop" Houston, a standout quarterback at Evangel High School in Shreveport, officially committed to LSU.
Who Is The Quarterback Prospect That Committed to LSU for 2027?
ESPN has the Evangel Junior rated as the top pocket passer in the country. This is great for a school that consistently has some of the most highly regarded wide receivers and pass catchers in the country. The hope is that Houston's commitment to LSU will help the Tigers secure the services of even more standout players from the northwestern corner of the state.
As a reminder, Tiger fans, you'll have to wait to see Peyton Houston on the field at Tiger Stadium; he still has his junior year of high school and his senior year of high school to get through. But if all stays on course, he'll be on campus for LSU for the 2027 football season.
