And we won't have all day long to cook things slowly and deeply the way tailgate fans do in South Louisiana. So instead of the "smoking since breakfast" meals we're used to preparing and serving late on Saturday afternoon, we're going to have to get up early, and that means a menu change for thousands of tailgate chefs.

And if you think by early I mean the traditional 2:30 start time for the SEC Game of the Week, then you are mistaken. This time, the Tigers will be playing what football fans with a few seasons under their belts will know as "The Jefferson Pilot" game. The game will actually kick off on Saturday at 11 AM.

LSU's opponent for Saturday's game is Mississippi State. Most Tiger fans think of the Bulldogs as more of a baseball opponent than a football challenge, but don't let past history fool you. Mississippi State is actually ranked higher than LSU in the latest Associated Press College Football Poll.
Who Is Favored Between Mississippi State and LSU on Saturday?
While the Bulldogs have a higher ranking, the bookmakers- you know, the folks whose livelihoods depend on knowing everything there is to know about college football will tell you LSU should obliterate State by two scores. The current point spread has LSU listed as a 10.5-point to 12.5-point favorite, depending on which sportsbook you look at.
Now, there is also another reason why fans will want to show up early and stay late for Saturday's festivities. In addition to the football game, it is Homecoming at LSU. Events are already underway; the Homecoming Court has been introduced, and all we need to do now is figure out what we are going to eat before and probably after the game.
