A scary situation unfolded at a local Youngsville Dollar General store on Friday night.

On September 9, just before 9:30 p.m. police say a black male suspect entered the Dollar General store located off the Youngsville Highway, firing one round from a black revolver and ordering every customer inside the store to "get on the ground."

The armed robbery suspect has been identified as Kendal Onezine (25). According to Youngsville Police Chief Rickey Boudreaux, Onezine was arrested by Lafayette Parish Sheriff's deputies at a Lafayette residence and has been charged with six counts of armed robbery, one count of aggravated assault, and one count of illegal discharge of a firearm.

Boudreaux also confirmed that the individual that Onezine fired upon in the parking lot was also the person who gave follow and obtained license plate information on the suspect's getaway vehicle.

Donning a black mask, black pants, and a camouflage hoodie, the suspect "took items and cash" from customers before ordering the Dollar General store clerk to remove all the cash from the safe and the registers as well.

The suspect then fled the store to a car waiting nearby, firing another round at an individual that was parked outside of the Dollar General store.

The suspect then exited the store and ran to a vehicle that was parked at the business located just south of Dollar General. While the suspect was running to the vehicle, he pointed his weapon at an individual that was parked in the parking lot and fired one round at the individual parked in the Dollar General parking lot.

The armed robbery suspect exited the nearby parking lot and was headed north on LA-89 (the Youngsville Highway). According to law enforcement, the suspect was followed by a witness in the Dollar General parking lot who managed to obtain the license plate of the getaway vehicle.

Youngsville Police says the suspect was located and arrested as the case still remains under investigation.
