New Authentic Açaí Shop Opening in Lafayette, Louisiana

A new smoothie bowl shop is coming to Lafayette with offerings that will keep you cool without the guilt or added sugar. If you have a hankering for an authentic açaí bowl look no further. We had the pleasure of sitting down with the owners Heidi and Steven Roma to get the back story on why they decided to bring Playa Bowls to Lafayette.

The New Jersey-based smoothie bowl shop started in 2014 as a pushcart on the corner across from the beach, which just so happened to be down the street from where the Roma family lived.  Heidi and Steven Roma fell in love with Playa Bowls and frequented the original location, often being dragged back by their kids who just couldn't get enough, "We loved it, and our kids loved it; it was a no-brainer."

Playa Bowls focuses on creating authentic healthy Açaí Bowls, smoothies, juices, and coffees without all the added chemicals and sugar. From what Steven told us, Playa Bowls is the O.G. and is responsible for bringing this trend to the U.S.

Steven tells us that his wife, Heidi, is the mastermind behind bringing Playa Bowls to Lafayette, "We knew we loved the product and we wanted our kids to be a part of running the business in the future".

They considered the idea for 2-3 years before finally saying, "Ok, let's do it," even though they knew instantly that Lafayette would be a great place for Playa Bowls.

Playa Bowls is set to open sometime in August, which is right around the corner.
