According to Bernadette Lee with KPEL News, the fatal shooting happened around 10 a.m. and investigators identified the deceased as Ross Chaisson.

According to Lafayette Police, 36-year-old Andres Jamal Felix was responsible for Chaisson's murder.

Felix would kill two more people, going on a shooting spree across Acadiana that spanned multiple parishes before taking his own life.

Due to the wide range of jurisdictions involved in the killing spree, Sr. Cpl. Matt Benoit with the Lafayette Police Department, Valerie Ponseti with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office, and Duson Police Chief Kip Judice worked together to disseminate confirmed information as well as a timeline of events as their respective agencies came together for a joint investigation into the connected incidents.

Duson Police confirmed that Felix shot and killed a second victim who was located outside of a residence shortly after 5 p.m. in the 400 block of Toby Mouton Road.
