Officials with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office have reported they have arrested a Lafayette woman who was a meal preparer at the St. Martin Jail for trying to bring banned substances into the jail.

Sheriff Becket Breaux says they were investigating a food service employee who worked through a contracted company for allegedly trying to bring marijuana into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center.

According to Sheriff Breaux, they started investigating after getting information this woman could be bringing banned substances into the jail. They are still investigating and more arrests are possible with this case.

Deputies arrested 26-year-old Tynequa Lynkel Leopold on several charges:

  • One count of Criminal Conspiracy
  • One count of Possession of Marijuana
  • One count of Introduction of Contraband in a Penal Institution

She was booked into the St. Martin Parish Jail.
