Louisiana State Police Cancel Silver Alert for Missing Man

Law enforcement officials say that Mr. Johnston has been found and is safe.

Louisiana State Police have issued a Silver Alert for an Evangeline Parish man who was last seen early Monday morning.

As of 4:30 a.m. family members say that was the last time anyone saw the man at his home on Mayo Road in Turkey Creek.

Louisiana State Police officials say that 74-year-old Melvin Johnston is a white male who has blue eyes and short brown hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a white t-shirt. He left on foot. They say the man weighs around 164 pounds.

What Do You Do If You See This Man?

You are asked to call 911 or the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office at 337-363-2161. If you prefer you can contact your local law enforcement agency as officials are asking everyone to pay attention to find this man.

Family members told officials Johnston does have a medical condition that impacts his judgment.
