Louisiana Woman Rescued From Tree by Fire Department
A woman in Louisiana had to be rescued from a tree after she got stuck 30 feet above the ground.
The woman went up the tree in Houma, Louisiana to rescue a cat that had been in the tree since Tuesday, but as soon as the woman made her way up the tree, the cat came down and that's when she got stuck.
According to eyewitnesses, branches on the tree started to break as the woman made her way up the tree and that is when they notified authorities.
The Houma Fire Department showed up with their ladder truck to reach the woman who climbed up the tree to rescue the cat and they were able to safely rescue her.
The fire department used this unfortunate incident for the woman to remind folks that it is never safe to climb. tree to rescue a cat. In a statement on social media, the Houma Fire Department issued this reminder:
"We want to remind the public that cats climb trees on a daily basis and it is a normal occurrence. They have claws specifically for climbing, as they may be hunting for food, fleeing a predator, or simply being inquisitive. The cat will climb down in time, it is not the safest option for you or firefighters to climb or ladder a tree to get the feline!"
If your cat is ever stuck in a tree, the fire department suggests that you put food at the base of the tree and the smell of the food will lure the cat to come down the tree.
