LSU Star WR Kyren Lacy Wanted on Charges of Negligent Homicide, Felony Hit-and-Run

Louisiana State Police have issued an arrest warrant for former LSU football star Kyren Lacy, 24, on charges of negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run, and reckless operation of a vehicle. The charges stem from a December 17, 2024, crash in Thibodaux that claimed the life of 78-year-old Herman Hall, a retired Marine, and injured two others.

According to investigators, Lacy was driving a 2023 Dodge Charger south on LA Highway 20 when he allegedly began recklessly passing vehicles in a no-passing zone at a high rate of speed. In an attempt to avoid a head-on collision with Lacy's vehicle, a northbound pickup truck swerved abruptly. A Kia Cadenza traveling behind the truck also swerved but crossed the centerline and collided with a southbound Kia Sorrento. Hall, a passenger in the Sorrento, was critically injured and later died at a hospital.

Police allege that after the crash, Lacy fled the scene, failing to render aid or report his involvement. Louisiana State Police have confirmed they are in communication with Lacy and his legal team about his surrender.

The tragic incident occurred just two days before Lacy declared for the NFL Draft. A standout wide receiver for LSU, Lacy led the Tigers in receiving touchdowns during the 2024 season and finished second in catches and receiving yards. Over his five-year collegiate career at the University of Louisiana and LSU, he amassed 2,360 receiving yards and 26 touchdowns.
