Texas Alert: New Crime Trend Sweeping Across Country
Police are warning citizens in Texas about a crime trend sweeping across public parking lots in our country. Authorities want you to be aware of what is happening in some public parking lots.
A Police Department in Louisiana shared a reminder on their social media page, warning citizens not to be distracted by something that may be left on their vehicle.
We've heard of this type of distraction before, but apparently, criminals are once again putting money or notes on the windshields of vehicles in hopes of luring you out of your vehicle. Once out of your vehicle to retrieve what was left behind, you can become a victim of an armed robbery or worse.
So again, police are reminding you to always be aware of your surroundings while out in public, and if you notice anything left on your vehicle, address it at a different location, and when removing it, proceed with caution.
In an earlier report about things left on your vehicle, police advised that if you remove anything from your vehicle that you did not put there, use gloves or something other than your bare hands to remove whatever may have been left behind.
Remember, never use your bare hands when retrieving what was left on your vehicle, as the object could potentially be tainted.
The agency that shared this reminder reports that they have not had any reports of such in their jurisdiction but are aware of this happening in other parts of the country, and they don't want you to fall victim.
