UPDATE: Sanford Sims was the man arrested at Microtel Tuesday morning. Our news partners at KATC say Sims was wanted on warrants for felony possession of stolen property and he's been connected to several business burglaries in Lafayette Parish. He was taken away from the scene in an ambulance after police say he was bitten by a K-9 when he would not come out of his room.

UPDATE: The Lafayette Sheriff's Department is executing a search warrant, according to our news partners at KATC. They report a man accused of being connected to multiple bank robberies in the parish was apprehended and taken away from the scene in an ambulance.

We are awaiting more information from the Lt. John Mowell at the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office as to why numerous deputy and Lafayette Police vehicles are on the scene of Microtel Inn & Suites on Ambassador Caffery.

Lt. Mowell says this case has NOTHING to do with the bank robbery on Monday in Broussard. Cpl. Karl Ratcliff with Lafayette Police say officers are there to assist the Sheriff's Department.
