Local Woman Takes Heartbreaking Picture Of Lafayette Officer Mourning Slain Comrade

Sunday night, Lafayette Police Corporal Michael Middlebrook was killed in the line of duty. Middlebrook was responding to an alleged battery at a convenience store at the corner of Moss Street and Van Buren when he was shot and killed. Local RN Lauren Hartzell Meiuller posted an incredibly touching picture to her Facebook page earlier today of a fellow officer mourning and honoring Corporal Middlebrook.

Meiuller posted along with the photo "Just witnessed an amazing moment passing the Lafayette Police Department. Such heavy hearts today."

Thibodeaux native Corporal Middlebrook leaves behind his his wife, three year old daughter, two stepdaughters, and his parents.
