
LPD Charges Suspect In Hansel Drive Shooting
A Lafayette man who was already behind bars has been charged with murder for a shooti9ng that occurred in March.
Cpl. Karl Ratcliff said 26-year-old Jeantrell Pierson has been charged with second-degree murder for the fatal shooting of 45-year-old John Jones on Hansel Drive on March 16, 2017.
On that day, Lafayette Police responded to the scene. in reference to a shots fired. Officers located 45 year old John Jones unresponsive suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest. Witnesses advised the suspect was seen fleeing the area in the victim's vehicle, a white Buick Rendezvous, but the vehicle has since been located at a local motel unoccupied.
Pierson was already incarcerated in the Lafayette Parish Correctional; Center for an unrelated charge.
