It's never to early for a preseason college football poll!

The Sporting News has released their preseason college football top 25 poll for 2017, and the LSU Tigers made the cut.

LSU, who went 8-4 in 2016, including a 5-3 SEC record, as well as a victory over Louisville in the Citrus Bowl, ranks #14 in the poll.

The Tigers, guided by Ed Orgeron, who will be entering his first full season as head coach, will open their 2017 schedule on September 2, taking on the BYU Cougars in the Texas Classic in Houston, Texas.

The Alabama Crimson Tide, the national runners-up in 2016, is the top-ranked team in the preseason poll, followed by the USC Trojans, Ohio St. Buckeyes, Florida St. Seminoles, and the Clemson Tigers, the defending national champs, in the top 5.

Penn St., Oklahoma, Washington, Michigan, Georgia round out the top ten.

11-15 consists of Auburn, Louisville, Wisconsin, LSU, and Florida, with Oklahoma St., Kansas St., Stanford, Miami (Florida), and West Virginia in spots 16-20.

Finally, Texas, South Florida, Washington St., Pittsburgh, and Tennessee are ranked 21-25, respectively.

The SEC has six teams ranked in the poll, while the ACC has five, with the Big Ten, Big XII and Pac-12 each being represented by four teams.
