If you are on LUS utilities be aware that you might be targeted by scammers. LUS says someone has been calling people claiming to represent the utility and threatens to cut off service unless a past due bill is paid. The callers usually claims the bill can be paid over the phone. The caller says the bill can be paid by PayPal, a pre-paid gift card or GreenDot.

LUS says you might get a recorded reminder about a bill payment but you will never be asked for money from a live person on the phone. When you speak to a LUS representative you may be given the option to pay over the phone but the transaction will never be performed by a live person.
