Several major retailers, including Walmart, are now making it mandatory for customers to wear masks in their stores, and that is not sitting well with some people.

A man named Ricky Taylor was at the Walmart Supercenter Tuesday, and the employees explained to the man that the corporate policy mandates that anyone in the store must wear a mask.

When Taylor refused to wear a mask or leave the store, the police were called. The officer who responded to the situation did officer Taylor a mask, but he didn't want it. He began cursing at the officer, saying, "You can't make me wear a f***ing mask according to the story at myarklamiss.com.

After cursing at the officer, the West Monroe police officer told Taylor he would have to leave the store. When he was walking away, the officer asked for Taylor's identification, but the man refused to give it. Taylor got into his car, and while he was backing up, Taylor's car hit the policeman. According to the story, Taylor hit the police officer not just once but twice with the vehicle.

The whole situation then became more tense as another officer arrived on the scene to assist the first officer, and they were eventually able to get the man in cuffs. Taylor claims that he didn't see the officer behind his vehicle, and he doesn't want to wear a mask due to a medical condition.

The 64-year-old man was booked into the local jail on the following charges:

  • Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer with a Motor Vehicle
  • Resisting an Officer
  • Disturbing the Peace & Disorderly Conduct
