Ryan Dills shut down the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns' offense Saturday, scattering four hits through seven innings, as Murray State spoiled the Cajuns' season opener 2-0 at the Tangi Tourism Classic in Hammond.

Dills (1-0) pounded the strike zone and stayed ahead of the Cajuns' hitters throughout.  He walked only one and struck out ten.  John Lollar and Chad Gendron each worked an inning of relief with Gendron retiring the Cajuns in order in the ninth for his first save.

Murray State (2-0) got their only runs off Cajuns' starter Gunner Leger (0-1) in the fourth inning when Tyler Lawrence belted a one out homer to left center, getting the Racers on the board.  Ramsey Scott followed with a single and Davis Sims was hit by a pitch.  Leger struck out Caleb Hicks for the second out, but hit Adam Bauer with a pitch and walked Jaron Robinson to force home the second run.

Leger worked four innings, giving up three hits, with one walk and five strikeouts.  Wyatt Marks pitched five relief innings, and allowed two hits, striking out seven.

The Cajuns' best chance to score came in the seventh when Handsome Monica led off with a single and Tyler Stover walked.  Pinch hitter Ishmael Edwards sacrificed the runners into scoring position.  But Dills got pinch hitter Brad Antchak to pop up and struck out Kennon Fontenot to end the threat.

The Cajuns will be back in action Sunday at 5:00 pm against Hofstra.  The game can be heard on 96.5 KPEL-FM with pre-game beginning at 4:30.  It was also announced last night's rainout against Southeastern Louisiana will be made up Monday at 6:00 pm.
