Panthers Handle Saints in Season Finale, 33-14
It what looked a lot like a preseason game in December, the Carolina Panthers defeated the New Orleans Saints 33-14, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome Sunday afternoon.
Playing without quarterback Drew Brees and running back Alvin Kamara, the Saints couldn't get on the scoreboard until Teddy Bridgewater hit Tre'Quan Smith with a nine yard scoring strike early in the fourth quarter.
Taysom Hill rushed for the Saints' other touchdown with 3:47 to play.
Kyle Allen, making his first NFL start, completed 16-27 passes for 228 yards and a pair of scores for Carolina before being injured in the fourth quarter. Allen also scored on a one yard touchdown run.
Michael Thomas caught five passes for 29 yards, breaking Joe Horn's team record for receiving yards in a season.
The Saints will have next week off before playing in the divisional round on January 13th.
