Party, But Think About Safety

Mardi Gras is a day for music, family, food and floats, and State Police Troop I Spokesman Thomas Gossen asks people to think about safety while celebrating today.

One of the biggest things that Trooper Gossen wants people to remember is that if you drive impaired, you will be arrested.

Gossen says there is no excuse for driving while you are impaired.

He suggests designating a driver, calling a cab, using one of the ride-sharing services or calling a sober friend to get you where you want to go. He adds that the best thing to do is make a plan ahead of time.

Trooper Thomas Gossen also wants to remind revelers that anyone in a vehicle in Louisiana must be using a seat belt.
