Pedestrian Killed By Calcasieu Deputy
At around 5 o'clock this morning, Louisiana State Police Troop I spokesman Thomas Gossen says that a Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's deputy struck a man walking in the middle of the roadway.
Gossen says that the deputy, twenty-three year-old Craig Guillory Jr. was eastbound on Louisiana Highway 3020 when a man wearing dark clothing was struck as he was walking near this center line.
The pedestrian was identified as thirty-one year-old Jesse J. Blanchard of Iowa. He was taken to the hospital, but he later died.
Fog may have been a factor in this crash.
The deputy submitted a sample for routine toxicology testing.
