The Wall Street Journal reported Friday that a longtime Trump lawyer made a $130,000 payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels on the president's behalf. The transaction is alleged to have happened about a month before he was elected. The story claims it was to keep Daniels quiet about a sexual encounter she had with the future president. Whether you believe the payment was made as "hush money" or not, the name "Stormy Daniels" may sound familiar to you.

Back in 2010, Stormy Daniels said she was going to run against David Vitter for the US Senate in Louisiana. It was seen as a way to cut down Vitter among Christian evangelical voters in the state after Vitter's own extra-marital affair became a very public topic of discussion. Her campaign to go to Washington would ultimately fail. Daniels was profiled by several news outlets after she launched a "listening tour" with prospective voters. KATC's Jim Hummel interviewed her in Lafayette.

The interview below is from WGNO New Orleans.

Turns out, Stormy Daniels had a bit of a criminal past to content with. Daniels, whose legal name is Stephanie Clifford, ended up being charged in a domestic incident in Florida. She ultimately decided not to run of the office. If you believe the Wall Street Journal story, it would seem that she eventually moved on to bigger fish in the political pond.
