The New Orleans Saints made a roster move on Tuesday, releasing a defensive lineman.
The team released Jason Jones, a nine-year veteran defensive end, who signed with the Saints on August 12.
The 31-year old Jones entered the league out of Eastern Michigan in 2008 as a second-round pick with the Tennessee Titans, while also spending time with the Philadelphia Eagles, Detroit Lions and Miami Dolphins.
A native of Detroit, Michigan, Jones played in 14 games for the Dolphins last season, including 5 starts, compiling 22 tackles, including 3.5 sacks.
The 6-foot-5, 275-pound Jones has appeared in 109 career games, including 70 starts, tallying 212 tackles, including 31.5 sacks.
The Saints must trim their roster to 53 players by Saturday at 3 p.m.
