St. Martin Parish President Chester Cedars has declared a State of Emergency for St. Martin Parish because of the imminent threat of flooding along the Mississippi and Atchafalaya Rivers, along with the related bodies of water that have the potential to cause flooding and subsequent damage due to flooding in lower St. Martin Parish.

As St. Martin Parish prepares for rising waters due to heavy rains and flooding north of it, the sheriff's office announces extended sand bag distribution hours, effective immediately for this week:

  • Monday through Friday: 8:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday: 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

These sand bags are available at the Stephensville Park on Hwy. 70.

Please brings shovels and be prepared to fill your own sandbags.
