Fox News is reporting that the special envoy to Norther Ireland, Mick Mulvaney, is the latest person to resign from his duties.

Mulvaney was President Trump's chief of staff. Mulvaney made it official today, and he is quoted as saying to CNBC, "I can't stay here."

There is just less than two weeks until the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden.

Other resignations this week include Stephanie Grisham who is the East Wing Chief of Staff along with Social Secretary Rickie Niceta. The resignations come in the wake of yesterday's protestors storming into the Capitol. Another staffer who resigned is the Deputy Press Secretary for the White House, Sarah Matthews.

Fox News reports that they were told by Matt Pottinger, the deputy national security adviser that he was resigning because of actions taken by President Trump yesterday.

Matthews, speaking to Fox News last night, had this to say:

I was honored to serve in the Trump administration and proud of the policies we enacted......I was deeply disturbed by what I saw today.....Our nation needs a peaceful transfer of power."
