St. Landry Parish Crime Stoppers featured Derrick O'Connor on one of their segments because the man was not registering as a sex offender which was part of his sentence.

After being featured through a Crime Stoppers segment, agents caught him based on tips that crime through the Crime Stoppers line at 948-TIPS.

The sex offender unit officers had to notify Crime Stoppers that the man was still not registered even though he had already gone to jail, bonded out and was told to register.

A Crime Stoppers tip this past weekend led to police arresting him again.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz says,

" My sex offender unit will continue to seek out sex offenders who break the law, The offenders are required by law to register a permanent address and obtain a state ID then notify the office if they move. Anytime an offender breaks the law, we will arrest them time and time again until they are compliant with state law. The safety of the victims is my number one concern."
