Suspect Arrested After Standoff At Carencro Home

A suspect has been arrested following a standoff on Bayou Bend Road near Carencro.

Our news partners at KATC reported the suspect--who reportedly suffers mental illness--barricaded himself inside the home  During the standoff, the man fired shots toward deputies, but no one was injured.

A sheriff's office  spokesman said deputies were called out to the home several times since Monday for general disturbance calls, but today callers reported the man was seen with a weapon described as a long knife or a sword.

The sheriff's office along with a SWAT team unit was on the scene.
