Technology Helping To Reduce St. Landry Sheriff’s Response Times

St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz has now implemented a 'Contactless Self-Reporting System' for minor crimes and incidents.

Guidroz says he wants to use technology as much as possible to make life easier for the people in St. Landry Parish.

The system is to be used for minor things that happen that are no threat to life or property. All a resident will need to do is go to the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's website, and they can fill out the information about what has happened.

Guidroz says part of implementing this now is because it has the added bonus of both sheriff's deputies and the public being able to have less contact with one another so it alleviates concerns about contact in the time of coronavirus.

The Sheriff says that this system will have another benefit as it will allow St. Landry Parish Sheriff's deputies to be able to more quickly respond to calls that are more serious in nature. He says this system will work in conjunction with their current system, so it will be a smooth transition that will help them and help the public. Guidroz says this will create less paperwork for deputies, and he says they will be able to spend more time reacting to serious incidents while have to file fewer reports for minor situations.

The creation of this new way of reporting minor issues will allow the Sheriff's Office to realize cost savings as part of this new system, and he says it means less concern about Covid-19 transmission.

Guidroz says there are a variety of crimes/issues that can be reported with their new system.
