The University of Tennessee is offering free football tickets, and free food to all evacuees of Hurricane Florence to their game against UTEC on Saturday, September 16. The game is set for noon at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville.

According to a statement from Tennessee Director of Athletics Philipp Fulmer, 'Our hearts go out to all the families whose lives have been impacted by the hurricanes and tropical storms along the Atlantic coast," Fulmer said. "One of our four pillars is warmth, and we feel this is an appropriate way to bring that to life. Certainly, a football game is relatively insignificant in comparison to the realities these evacuees are facing. But if we can provide just a few hours of distraction and normalcy for these families, I believe we should do all we can to make that possible for them.'

Chick-fil-A, one of the football program sponsors, is also donating free Chick-fil-A Chicken Biscuits to residents of North and South Carolina at the ticket claim tent. All of this is on a first come, first served basis, of course.

Say what you want to about UT, this is an incredibly generous gesture to some folks who just got their lives upended by a weather catastrophe. Way to geaux, Vols!
