U.S. Citizens Receive Seeds From China in Mail Packages
Be careful what you open.
Several U.S. citizens have reportedly received unsolicited packages from China in the mail that contain seeds in it. The package is labelled as something other than seeds, but when people open the package, there are seeds in the envelope.
One Louisiana resident in St. Rose received an unsolicited package of seeds and the package was labelled as earrings.
The Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry says that if you receive such a package, do not open the seeds which are packaged within and to notify their office immediately. Their number is (225) 925-4733.
People in several states have received these type packages and authorities are working to identify the seeds.
As a safety precaution, officials with the LDAF say that it's best to not come into contact with the seeds until they can properly identify them.
