Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun women’s basketball team returns to action on Saturday afternoon, when coach Garry Brodhead’s squad plays host to the UT-Arlington Mavericks in a Sun Belt Conference affair.

Tipoff time is set for 2 o’clock.

The game will mark the opening game of a men’s/women’s doubleheader, with the UL men taking on UT-Arlington later in the afternoon.

The game also marks the fourth game of a five-game home stand trip for the Cajuns, who don’t hit the road again until Feb. 4.

Louisiana, who defeated Texas St., 56-53, on Thursday, for their fifth-consecutive win, is 15-3 on the season, including an 8-1 Sun Belt Conference mark, while UT-Arlington, who beat ULM, 74-59, also on Thursday, will enter the match-up with an overall record of 7-10, along with a 2-5 conference mark.

The Cajuns are outscoring the opposition, 66.5/55.1, and outshooting them from the floor, 42%/39%, while also holding down a 36.1/34.9 rebound advantage.

Louisiana is led by senior guard Keke Veal, who is averaging 15.4 points, to go along with 3.1 rebounds-per-game.

UL also features junior guard Jaylyn Gordon, who is averaging 14.9 points and 4.4 rebounds a contest.

UT-Arlington is outscoring the opposition, 60.6/57.8, and outshooting opponents, 40%/39%, while holding down a 36.2/33.1 rebounding advantage.

The Mavericks are led by sophomore guard Cierra Johnson, who is averaging 10.9 points and 3.7 rebounds a contest.
