Flooding in Lafayette and surrounding areas was a major story of 2019. The drainage issue remains as the political debate over how to fix it rages on. This year, the saints streets area of Lafayette saw major flooding on June 6th. A KPEL listener submitted the following video from the area near the old Our Lady of Lourdes campus.

On July 14th, the Vermilion River topped its banks near the E Broussard crossing.

On August 6th, another flooding event left the campus of UL Lafayette looking more like a lake.
