Delta Apologizes After Passengers Told Not To Sing National Anthem

Delta says it will offer more training for crew members after a flight attendant put a halt to passengers singing the national anthem on a recent flight. It happened after the plane had landed and the casket of a fallen soldier was offloaded. A group of passengers, including Dr. Pam Gaudry, began singing the national anthem. That's when a flight attendant reportedly approached the group and told them to stop singing because it was against airlines policy. WTOC reports that Gaudry, who identified herself as the wife of a now-deceased Navy Captain, that “everybody is going to stay in their seats and be quiet.” Some Facebook users applauded the flight attendant, saying she was misunderstood while trying to keep everyone silent. Either way, it rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.

Gaudry recorded a video in the terminal shortly after the incident and Delta quickly responded. It apologized and said the flight attendant was wrong about the policy. The Atlanta-based airline promised more training would be offered to crew members to prevent this from happening in the future.

Gaudry has received a ton of comments and emails since the mishap and she is thankful for the outpouring of support.
