A Breaux Bridge man was busted with a loot of drugs and cash in a stolen vehicle yesterday.

St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Maj. Ginny Higgins said 21-year-old Dakevon Jean-Batiste was arrested Wednesday following a surveillance operation in Breaux Bridge.

Narcotics agents located a suspicious vehicle which was reported stolen from Lafayette. After a short pursuit, Jean-Batiste was arrested on Bridge Street. Agents located a "significant amount" of crystal meth, marijuana and cash.

He was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on the following charges:

  • Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II CDS (Methamphetamine)
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses
  •  Violation of uniform CDS law; drug free zone (8 counts)
  • Criminal Conspiracy (3 counts)

He also faces an additional charge with the Breaux Bridge Police Department for possession of a stolen vehicle.

Following his arrest, he was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on the above charges and at the time of this release, no bond had been set.
