Helping Those Experiencing Homelessness In Acadiana

When you walk down any of the streets in Lafayette, you might not think that people passing by you are experiencing homelessness.

The work of Catholic Charities of Acadiana is one of the reasons why there are less people sleeping on our streets.

Communications Director with the organization Ben Broussard spoke with me about how they are working to get people the fresh start that they need.

Broussard says that because of Catholic Charities of Acadiana along with a whole contingent of other churches and non-profit groups, they are tackling the issue for people who are experiencing homelessness.

Ben Broussard taught me about why they use the phrase "someone experiencing homelessness" instead of saying someone is homeless.

Whether it's a health issue, an unexpected huge bill or some other life changing event, many people are only one paycheck away from experiencing homelessness.
