Iberia Suspect In Coma After Drug Bust

Yesterday deputies from the Iberia Parish Sheriff's office attempted to conduct a search of a home at 2006 Badger Trail, Lot 17 that resulted in one person being hospitalized. It's believed the suspect was selling synthetic marijuana along with other drugs. When deputies tried to search the home the suspect identified as 36 year old Heath Duplechain barricaded himself in the home and possibly ingested a lethal amount of narcotics. The Iberia Parish SWAT team entered the home and found Duplechain to be unresponsive. Duplechain was transported to a local hospital where he remains in a medically induced coma.

After Duplechain was taken to the hospital the home was searched and deputies discovered 91 packs of synthetic marijuana, 21 ecstasy tablets, cocaine, methamphetamine, and AR-15 and a handgun.
