Haze Sweeps Across Much of Louisiana and Texas

Have you walked outdoors in recent days and noticed smoke in the area? If so, your eyes were not deceiving you.

Earlier this week when I walked out of the building at work in Lafayette, Louisiana, I noticed "smoke" in the city, but didn't think much of it until more people started to ask about it on social media.

Well, as it turns out, the smoke or haze that we were all witnessing in the region was coming from wildfires in Southern Mexico and Central America.

FOX 26 Houston reports that according to Wildland Fire Interagency Geospatial Service, "There are currently thousands of wildfires burning in the southern part of Mexico and all that smoke is coming across the Gulf of Mexico."

As the smoke sweeps across the region, those who have respiratory issues may want to limit their time outdoors and keep all windows and doors to their home shut until the smoke clears.

Again, if you find the conditions in your area to be hazy it isn't your eyes, there is smoke in the atmosphere and it should clear soon.
