Two Major Road Projects Are Underway in Iberia Parish — Here’s How They’ll Affect Your Commute
NEW IBERIA, La. - Iberia Parish is currently undertaking two significant infrastructure projects aimed at improving traffic flow, safety, and economic access in the region.
$5 Million Roundabout Under Construction Near New Iberia Airport
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), in partnership with Iberia Parish Government and the Acadiana Planning Commission, has broken ground on a nearly $5 million roundabout at the intersection of LA 675, the US 90 westbound frontage road, and Airport Road.

The modern roundabout is designed to reduce crash severity, lower vehicle speeds, and improve traffic efficiency in a corridor critical to airport access, freight movement, and nearby commercial and industrial developments. Construction work includes concrete pavement, drainage structures, and related road improvements.
The project is jointly funded through federal dollars and local contributions, with completion expected by May 2027.

Alternating and periodic lane closures will occur Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with emergency vehicle access maintained throughout.
Lasalle Street Fully Closed May 11 Through June 25
Another project involves Lasalle Street between Seaway Access Road and Future Hanger Drive, which will be fully closed from May 11 through June 25 to allow for roadway reconstruction, drainage improvements, and asphalt paving.
Detour Routes for the Lasalle Street Closure
No local access will be permitted within the work zone during this time. Northbound motorists will be detoured west on LA Hwy 3212 to Parish Road 515, then east on Seaway Access Road, with southbound traffic following the reverse route.
All work is weather-dependent.
Parish President Larry Richard encourages residents to plan ahead and drive cautiously near both work zones.
