Louisiana Residents Urged to Check Pantry as Snack Recall Expands
If you are a parent with young kids in Louisiana chances are you have Quaker Oats products in your pantry.
Quaker Oats has taken a precautionary step by expanding its recall to include additional products due to potential salmonella contamination, as announced by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The expanded recall now includes various varieties of Quaker's granola bars, cereal bars, cereals, and snack mix. These products are distributed and sold across all 50 U.S. states, as well as in Puerto Rico, Guam, and Saipan.
To help consumers identify if their purchased items are affected, a comprehensive list of the recalled products can be accessed here.
Despite the recall, there have been no confirmed reports of illnesses associated with these Quaker products, according to the company.
One of the proactive measures taken to assist consumers in checking the safety of their items is the inclusion of a SmartLabel QR code on the packaging. By scanning this QR code, individuals can easily determine if their product has been subject to the recall.
Salmonella Symptoms
Salmonella, a bacteria known to cause foodborne illnesses, can lead to various symptoms in healthy individuals, including fever, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. However, it can result in more severe health complications, particularly in young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.
As a precautionary measure, consumers are advised to thoroughly check their pantries for any Quaker products listed on the recall. If they possess any of these recalled items, they should dispose of them promptly.
For those affected by the recall, Quaker offers support through its Consumer Relations hotline, which operates from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Central Standard Time, Monday through Friday. Consumers can reach out to Quaker Consumer Relations at 1-800-492-9322 or visit www.QuakerRecallUSA.com to seek reimbursement.
While there have been no reported illnesses associated with these products so far, Quaker Oats is taking these precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of its consumers. It's essential for individuals who may have purchased these affected products to follow the recall guidelines and take appropriate actions to prevent any potential health risks.
