The Texas Lottery has confirmed that a ticket sold in Texas for Monday's Powerball multi-state lottery game is a $50,000 winner. This comes as welcome news for Lone Star Lottery lovers who were "shut out" from the big prizes in Saturday's Powerball game. However, that drawing on Saturday did produce a winner just across the Louisiana line.

So, if you played Powerball on Saturday but purchased your ticket in Bossier City, Louisiana then you have 250,000 reasons to double-check your numbers. Alas, that was Saturday and now it's Tuesday and they had another Powerball drawing on Monday night.

Here's how that drawing unfolded.

The estimated life-changing jackpot in Monday's drawing was $66,500,000. Let me just say that would buy just about anything and everything on the menu at the Tyler, Texas Red Dirt BBQ & Music Festival in May. Heck, you might own part of Tyler with that kind of money. But alas, there was no ticket sold that matched the numbers needed to claim the Powerball top prize.

What were the Powerball numbers? Here they are:

07   16   41   56   61   Powerball 23  Power Play x3

Before you start telling everyone how much you won playing Powerball you will need to verify those numbers at the Official Powerball Website or you can verify them at the Official Texas Lottery Website.

While there was no big jackpot winner in Monday's Powerball game there was a $50,000 winner sold in Texas. Monday's game did not produce any Match 5 Millionaires so the Texas ticket that matched four of the white balls and the Powerball was one of the larger prizes won on Monday.

The Texas Lottery does not publish point-of-purchase details on winning tickets that claim prizes of less than one million dollars so we can't zero in on what Texas town was lucky on Monday but we are working to get that information for you. Our suggestion, if you played Powerball on Monday, check your numbers.

How Much is the Mega Millions Jackpot on Tuesday?

The other multi-state lottery game that's available to Texas Lottery customers is the Mega Millions game. The jackpot in that game is now $148 million. That's the estimated annuitized amount. If you won and wanted the lump sum payout you'd get $67.8 million before taxes. After taxes you'd probably have bad thoughts about the IRS so let's just not go there until we have to, okay?

The Mega Millions drawing will be tonight (Tuesday, April,16,2024) at 10 p.m. By rule ticket sales must cease at least one hour before the drawing. So, if you plan on playing go ahead and secure those tickets.

Speaking of tickets, not all lottery purchases turn into money winners. Most lottery tickets are not winners at all. That's why you should only play lottery games with money you can afford to lose. And The Top 10 Snobbiest Places in Texas Are...

Well, the folks at Road Snacks think they've figured it out. Again, they've claimed to figure out which cities are the snobbiest in The Lone Star State, not me.
