Getting caught driving drunk could should mean jail time, no matter what. That’s what was said by member of the Governor’s Task Force on DWI and Vehicular Homicide, Kaplan State Senator Jonathan Perry. He says that the current law requires 10 days to 6 months in jail for first time offenders, but judges have the ability to throw that out. He says that he wants to change the law to make it mandatory jail time on first time DWI charges.

He says that the current law isn’t a large enough deterrent.
