Jennings Man Hits Officer With His Crutches While Being Arrested
Police officers are trained to expect the unexpected. I am guessing a Jennings Police Officer making an arrest on a drug suspect yesterday didn't expect he would be whacked in the knee by the suspect's crutches. However, that is exactly what happened.
Officers in Jennings obtained a search warrant for a vehicle near where Stacey Lee Williams was standing. Officers reportedly could smell marijuana so they obtained a search warrant and discovered there was a lot more than pot in the vehicle.
Once police searched the vehicle they discovered a cache of illegal substances. When Williams was questioned about the drugs and the car he denied knowing anything about either. However, as he was being taken into custody for further questioning he allegedly struck one of the officers with one of his crutches. The officer was hit in the knee but did not report the injury to be serious.
Meanwhile, Jennings Police were working to contact the owner of the car. Williams has been charged with multiple drug offenses and with resisting an officer, battery of a police officer, obstruction of justice, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He remains incarcerated with no bond available at this time.
