It was already a historic season for the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns but on Monday night they defeated the Miami of Ohio Redhawks 27-17 in the 2020 LendingTree Bowl. In doing so they made more history by grabbing their 11th victory of the season for the first time in their history.

This game started out a little bit slow, like a heavyweight fight as neither team was able to score in the first quarter.

Miami of Ohio drew first blood as Jaylon Bester found paydirt for a 7-0 lead. That didn't last though as the Cajuns scored 17 unanswered points into the third quarter to grab the lead at 17-7.

From there Louisiana never looked back as they had to fight off the Redhawks down the stretch when the game was 27-17 late in the fourth quarter.

A big turning point in this one was in the fourth quarter as the Redhawks were driving midway through the fourth quarter around midfield. On a 3rd and two running back Jaylon Bester fumbled the football after review and Louisiana recovered.

Miami of Ohio had another big chance later in this one facing a 4th and goal from inside the one-yard line but disaster struck as the center rolled a ground ball to Brett Gabbert that got past him. Bester recovered the football but it didn't matter as it was fourth down, the biggest play for the defense all night long.

Levi Lewis would make some history himself in this one becoming the first player to throw for 3,000+ yards and 26 touchdowns in program history. Lewis was also named the Most Outstanding Player of the game.

Ja'Marcus Bradley was named the Offensive Player of the Game, Eric Garror, the Mobile native was named the Defensive Player of the Game, and Stevie Artigue was named the Special Teams Player of the Game.

Congratulations on a terrific season for the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Football Program.
