LSU, Northwestern State Headed West for NCAA Regionals
After making it to the SEC Tournament title game, most believed LSU had worked its way into a #2 seed position.
But not many figured they'd be headed way out west.
LSU received the #2 seed in the Corvallis Regional, hosted by #3 National Seed Oregon State. The Tigers will play Friday at 3:00 pm against San Diego State. And, in a bit of irony, another Louisiana school will join them. Northwestern State, the Southland Conference tournament champions are the #4 seed and will face the host Beavers.
Sun Belt Conference regular season and tournament champion Coastal Carolina was named as a host school last night. The Chanticleers are the #15 national seed and will play LIU-Brooklyn in their first game Friday at 5:00 pm. #2 Connecticut will play #3 Washington in the session's other matchup.
And, Sun Belt tournament runnerup Troy was also selected to the field. One of the last four teams in, the Trojans will play in the Athens, GA regional. They will meet Duke in their first game Friday at 1:00 pm, while the #8 national seed Bulldogs will take on Campbell of the Big South Conference.
