They were down 20-0 and were getting booed by the Tiger Stadium faithful.

But LSU persevered.

The Tigers rallied from their biggest deficit in an SEC game in nearly 40 years and stunned #10 Auburn 27-23 Saturday afternoon in Tiger Stadium.

Daniel Carson's 48 yard field goal gave Auburn their lead at the 12:58 mark in the second quarter.  But then, LSU went to work.

Stephen Sullivan's one yard run on fourth down capped a 90 yard drive to get LSU on the board.  Russell Gage set up the score with a 70 yard run.

Carlson hit another field goal for a 23-7 lead, but the Tigers (5-2, 2-1 SEC) countered as Danny Etling hit Gage for a 14 yard touchdown to get LSU within striking distance at half time.

After a scoreless third quarter, D. J. Chark electrified the crowd with a 76 yard punt return to get LSU within two points and after LSU pinned Auburn deep, the Tigers got the ball in good field position and that set up the game winner, a 42 yard field goal by Connor Culp to give LSU the lead.

Culp added another field goal after Auburn failed on fourth down deep in its own territory for the final margin.

LSU's defense held Auburn (5-2, 2-1) to just 64 yards of offense in the second half.
