The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns have called a 1:00pm news conference when they will officially name Dr. Bryan Maggard as their new Director of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Maggard comes to UL from the University of Missouri where he has served as Executive Associate Athletic Director. A graduate of Kansas State University, Maggard has been at Mizzou for 21 years.

While there, Maggard served under former Athletic Director Mike Alden, who has served as a consultant to UL for over a year.  Alden was commissioned to do an overview of the athletic department.  He also was a consultant in the search for a new AD, vetting over 100 applicants before turning the search over to a committee named in December by UL President Joseph Savoie.  The committee conducted interviews with multiple candidates before turning over the names of two finalists to Savoie, who made the final decision.

While at Missouri, Maggard was responsible for football scheduling as well as being involved with Missouri's transition from the Big 12 to the Southeastern Conference.  He also has been heavily involved in facility design and construction.  Prior to taking the position at Missouri, he also served on staffs at Florida State and Kansas State.

He replaces Scott Farmer, who resigned in November.

ESPN1420 will carry the official announcement live at 1 pm.  Jay Walker will have an exclusive interview with Dr. Maggard on Bird's Eye View this afternoon at 3:15
