UPDATE: Suspect Arrested For Pinhook Rd. Shooting

UPDATE: Lafayette Police have a suspect in custody for Tuesday's fatal shooting on East Pinhook Road.

Cpl. Karl Ratcliff said 27-year-old Quinton Benjamin was arrested  around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at a motel on LA Highway 26 in Jennings.

Benjamin faces charges of second degree murder and felony possession of a firearm for the fatal shooting of 42-year-old Ray Cudges, of Duson.

Ratcliff said the arrest was made with cooperation of the Lafayette Police Department, the U.S. Marshal's Task Force and the Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff's Office.

A shooting in Lafayette Tuesday morning leaves a person dead. LPD spokesman Corporal Karl Ratcliffe says it happened around 9:30 a.m. in the 400 block of East Pinhook Road. The black male victim was found dead at the scene. Officers continue to investigate.
