About a week and a half ago Major Hurricane Michael crossed the Florida coastline near Mexico Beach. The devastation has been unspeakable. Tonight shortly after sunset another Major Hurricane, Willa, will cross the coastline of western Mexico bringing 140 mph+ winds, high surf, storm surge, and no doubt devastation for that part of the world as well.

While our thoughts and prayers are extended to those who are truly in harm's way, we have to keep a watchful eye on our own backyard too. All of that moisture from Hurricane Willa has got to go somewhere. That somewhere is across northern Mexico, southern Texas, and into Louisiana over the next several days.

While high clouds and moisture from Willa's circulation are already streaming over Louisiana we are also being impacted by a low-pressure system off the South Texas coast that is feeding more moisture to the area. The end result is going to be some very rainy days across the area.

National Weather Service forecasters are suggesting that several inches of rain could fall along the I-10 corridor between today and early Friday. The GFS Model is suggesting 3 to 5 inches of rainfall between now and early Friday. Some of the other forecast models are not so generous with the rainfall totals.

The good news is that most of the rain threat will be gone from the area by the time the weekend rolls around.
