Observant Citizen Helps in Capture of Escaped Inmate

Inmate Barry Butler is back behind bars after observant citizen led deputies to his location in the Eunice area.

Sheriff Bobby Guidroz says Butler, who was a trusty at the department's service station on the westside of Opelousas, walked off the property on Friday, September 7. He says, as his office and other area agencies searched extensively for him, they got the call from the citizen.

Butler was serving time for traffic charges, flight charges, and felon in possession of a firearm.
