Police Week In Lafayette To End With A Memorial Service
This Thursday, the community is invited to come together to remember more than 20 Acadiana officers who died on the job. It's just one of several events to mark Police Week. Several Lafayette Police Officers and members of the department's color guard are in Washington, D.C. to take part in the national memorial. Businesses and citizens are encouraged to fly the American Flag at half-staff on Tuesday, May 15th.
This will be the first time Corporal Michael Middlebrook will be remembered as part of the local memorial service scheduled for Thursday. Middlebrook was killed in a shooting with a suspect in October of last year. The annual Acadiana police memorial service will be held at St. Barnabus Episcopal Church on Camellia Boulevard in Lafayette. The public is welcome to attend.
