The New Orleans Saints continued to trim their roster on Wednesday.

The team released Justin Drescher, a 7-year veteran long snapper, with an injury settlement.

Drescher suffered an injury in the Saints' preseason win over the Houston Texans last Saturday.

A native of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Drescher signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent in 2010, before being waived before the start of the season.

The 6-foot-1, 235-pound Drescher signed with the Saints in November of 2010, playing in 6 games, before being the long snapper for the Saints for every game since the start of the 2011 campaign.

The 29-year old Drescher, who played his college football at Colorado, played out his contract last season with the Saints.

Drescher became expendable when the Saints acquired 2-time Pro Bowl long snapper Jon Dorenbos in a trade from the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this week.

The Saints must trim their roster to 53 players by Saturday at 3 p.m.
